Movies for August
Observe and Report
7/10
This is basically a funnier Paul Blart: Mall Cop. It made me laugh, but it was also kind of stupid. Anna Farris was amazing in this though.
The Rage: Carrie 2.
6/10
Another lame highschool movie. One of the popular bullies wears glasses and a cardigan.. This was made in like 2000.. These people know NOTHING of being popular. My favorite scene from this movie has always been the best friend building scene.. SUPER morbid. It’s more of a terrifying example of bullying than a scary story about another chick who can kill people with her mind
Oh yeah, SPOILER ALERT: She can kill people with her mind.
Nightwatch
4/10
This movie was.. bad. It was set in a morgue, which was kind of creepy.. I enjoyed the twist in this film though, which was very well played. If you weren’t thinking about it, the twist would probably be a nice surprise, I figured it out though. Once the twist was revealed, the whole plot moved way too fast, which got kind of confusing. John C Riley was in this, playing a serious role, which was weird.
Jeepers Creepers
8/10
I still love this movie. Don’t bother with the second one, it’s shit. But this film is awesome! You have to not over-analyse it and just enjoy it for what it is.
The Uninvited
6/10
This is actually a good movie if you’re not the type of person who is constantly looking for the twist in the movie.
Night of the Living Dead
5/10
This movie wasn’t the 4 1/2 hours I remember, but it was still as tedious. I do love the start though, it’s so creepy. The main female character was one of those feeble woman types, which was horrid. It wasn’t well thought out, randomly half-way through it was revealed that you come back as a zombie if they bite you, like it was an afterthought. Pretty much the most random ending ever.
Shutter Island
7/10
I figured there was a twist in this movie, and spent most of the movie trying to figure out what it was. (I guessed it!) It’s not so much horror as confusing twisty gunk. The ending ruins it on the first viewing, but after reading up on in afterwards, I think it could be better if you watch it a few times. The rest of the movie wasn’t bad.
Van Diemans Land
5/10
This movie goes for almost two hours, and when you know what point this film starts at in the whole story (which can be found on wikipedia) that’s a LOOONG time. It’s visually stunning, but otherwise it’s a bit like watching Big Brother with an axe. There’s a lot of switching back-and-forth between languages, and there are moments when it seems too perverted, even for me. The movie didn’t seem to have a real point to it, and it’s presumed you know the story already.
Two Lovers
6/10
I didn’t find any of the main character’s of this film perticularly likeable, which made it very hard to enjoy this love story. I’m beginning to hate singular plot movies, one narrow plotline bores me. It’s kind of a bizarre story, with another of those weird timelines; all the events happen in like, two months. The ending make this story better.
G-Force
10/10
This is pretty much the perfect kid’s movie. It’s a great balance between a fun storyline that adult’s can enjoy also, and pure piggy cuteness.
